Respecting nature is the essence of this home. As DQI’s second project for these clients, we were asked to create a new home with a cottage feel. This lot was home to a small, tired bungalow that needed extensive work to update and enlarge. It was decided to remove the existing house and build new. With the project situated on a mature lot, the design was careful to maintain almost all trees, including the front “character tree”. This unique floor plan consisted of a two separate living pods that are linked by a great room which features a stone fireplace wall, floor-to-ceiling windows and wood beams. Cedar, stone, wood and copper materials are carefully used in balance as accents to give this home the warm and welcoming appearance of a family cottage.
