The client approached DQI with a goal of transforming their basement into a comfortable living space, with the intention of possibly offering affordable housing in the downtown Oakville neighbourhood. To achieve this, DQI’s solution included designing a private entrance at the side of the house and allocating a portion of the side yard as exclusive outdoor space. To enhance the apartment's appeal and functionality, DQI incorporated large windows to bring in abundant natural light, utilized earthy materials for a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and added a cozy gas fireplace, resulting in the creation of an inviting two-bedroom complete living space.
